Avocado (Persea americana) is a species native to Mesoamerica.
The word avocado comes from the Nahuatl ahuacatl, which means testicle, probably due to the similarity with the fruit.
It is grown in places with tropical and Mediterranean climates.
In addition to its delicious flavor, avocado is rich in healthy fats, thus counting with 14 or 15 grams average in 100 grams of fruit.
It is also a good source of potassium, containing 60% more than a medium banana.
Avocado is also rich in Vitamins A, E, C, and Folic acid.
